About Dr. Susan Heredia

Beginning her career in education as a bilingual teacher in the Sacramento City Unified School District, Susan also taught in the credential program at the University of California, Davis, and served as Chair of the Bilingual Multicultural Education Department and Graduate and Professional Studies in Education Division at California State University, Sacramento.  A native of California's capitol, Susan has committed her professional career and life to the development of Sacramento's youth through education, policy, and philanthropy.

Dr. Heredia’s Record of Putting Kids First:
  • 96% graduation rate: 10% increase in 7 years (highest in Sacramento County)

  • Award winning programs: nutrition services and social emotional student support

  • Highest A-G rate for African American, Hispanic, ESL Learners, and Low Income Students

  • California Leader in Equity and Access

  • Over 30 years recruiting, training, and preparing quality teacher for classrooms

  • Created Natomas Parent University

  • Launched Elementary Sports Program and Free Food Locker

  • Increased graduation rates, lowered drop-outs, reduced suspension, expanded CTE
